How to run a pledge-per-win fundraiser

Updated November 3, 2026 · Written by the PledgeStop team

In a pledge-per-performance fundraiser, supporters pledge a set amount for each game or win, then pay once the season is over. It turns fundraising into something families follow all season instead of a one-time ask. Here's how to run one.

1. Pick what supporters pledge on

Offering per game alongside per win gives cautious supporters a predictable option.

2. Suggest amounts and encourage caps

Do the math for supporters. "$5 per game × 12 games = $60" is easier to say yes to than an open-ended pledge. A maximum ("never more than $75") makes pledging feel safe, especially for per-win pledges on a winning team.

3. Launch before the first game

Each player shares the team's pledge link or QR code with everyone they know: family, friends, neighbors, coaches and local businesses. The more people who see it, the more pledges come in. A short note in the player's own words works best: who they are, what the money is for, and how the pledge works.

4. Keep supporters in the loop

This is where pledge-per-performance pays off. Post results, share a photo after a big win, and remind supporters that every result counts. People who are following along are happy to pay at the end.

5. Close the season and collect

The coach confirms final results, pledges are calculated (respecting each supporter's cap), and cards are charged. Send a thank-you with what the money paid for. That's how next season's pledges start.

Tips from teams

Running it on PledgeStop

PledgeStop handles each step: per game, per win, or flat pledges; supporter-set maximums; a cancel link in every confirmation email; and automatic charging after the coach confirms the season's results. PledgeStop takes no percentage of pledges. Each supporter pays a one-time $1 verification fee when they pledge, and PledgeStop currently covers card processing fees, so the team receives the full pledge amount.

Frequently asked questions

How does a pledge-per-win fundraiser work?

Supporters pledge an amount for each win, often with a maximum. After the season, the team's final record determines each pledge, and supporters are charged once.

How much should supporters pledge per game?

Small amounts add up. $2–$10 per game or win is common. Show the total for a full season so supporters know what to expect, and let them set a cap.

What if the team has a losing season?

Offer per-game or flat pledges alongside per-win, so the team earns something from every game no matter the score.
